Tips for Planning the Perfect Proposal

Surprise Marriage Proposal in NYC You’ve found the perfect ring, but before you get ready to pop the question, there are some things you should plan out first. Needless to say, proposing to your significant other will be one of the most pivotal moments of both your lives, so you should make sure it’s perfect. Not sure where to start? Here are some ways to go about it:

Give yourself time to plan

Once you get the ring, resist the temptation just to propose that same night. Instead, plan it out anywhere from two to eight weeks in advance, and then take this time to set up reservations, talk to parents, and think about what you’re going to say when the moment comes.

Tell a limited number of people

Keeping things to yourself will ensure that nothing gets back to your partner, but it may be difficult to do everything on your own for logistical reasons. Plus, carrying around a secret like that is never easy, so, plan on telling a few, very close, friends or family members. Any more than two people, though, and you risk the secret getting out.

Find a sentimental location

You don’t have to propose at a fancy restaurant. In reality, the best proposal locations are ones that hold a special place in both your hearts. Maybe it’s the location of your first date? Or maybe it’s where you first said “I love you”? Or maybe it’s just your apartment, the place of many happy memories? Wherever the location, it should be somewhere that’s special to you both.

Think about what your partner would want

There are many ways that you can propose, but in the end, it’s all about your partner, so do what they would like most. For example, if they’re on the shy side, don’t plan a big celebration where you propose in front of hundreds of people. Instead, find a private, but romantic, spot to get down on one knee.

Hire a photographer

As we said before, this will be one of the most pivotal moments of both of your lives, so why not document it? At Gruber Photographers, we offer secret proposal photography where one of our photographers stands by in a discreet location to capture the moment you pop the question. This way, you can capture this special moment while at the same time keeping it a surprise. Feel free to contact us for more information.

I was considering doing it this Sunday evening in Midtown East or Battery Park. What is the cost?
