Cartagena: Your New Destination Wedding Spot

by Moha Antani

Tendencias 2014 Bridal Week in Cartagena, Colombia exposed us to a city full of beauty and old world romance. Founded in 1525, Cartagena is one of the oldest Spanish colonies in the Americas, its richness in culture and history fast making it a top spot for destination weddings. The city’s old colonial architecture and castles(as seen in Terry’s photos below) give it an authentic rustic feel. Walk alongside the castle walls, take in the breathtaking scenery, or enjoy the nearby beaches all while posing for photos in your one-of-a-kind wedding dress.

A typical villa interior

Celebrities such as race car driver Juan Pablo Montoya have had weddings in Cartagena. Accommodations are also relatively inexpensive, as this is still a “hidden” city to many tourists. Expect to pay around $1000 for a beach front 5-bedroom villa.

Stray away from the cliche wedding locations, and choose Cartagena if you want a truly unique, unforgettable experience.
