A few months ago, our New York wedding photographers, Terry and Zev, had the privilege of shooting Gayle and James’ wedding at The Plaza. Modern elegance combined with traditional Chinese design and decor was the theme behind their big day and was designed by the creative minds over at David Beahm Designs.
While the city was crippled by the unseasonal blizzard on October 29th, the groom’s mother happened to be delighted. In the Chinese tradition, snow on a couple’s wedding day is a sign of good luck!
Some highlights of the black-tie affair included three ice sculptures of New York, Chicago, and Hong Kong city-scapes where the couple live, met and were engaged respectively. A six-tiered Sylvia Weinstock wedding cake was custom made with an intricate floral design and stood surrounded by red, ornate lanterns. And following Chinese tradition, the bride changed into multiple wedding dresses throughout the night, saving a deep red Marchesa gown for the final dance. All in all, a magical New York City wedding.
Congratulations to Gayle and James!
